Yesterday we went to the Etsy Craft Party at TechShop in San Francisco. It was also the kick off of I Heart Art: San Francisco, a program sponsored by Etsy, Inc. to promote connectivity between local SF artists, organizations & institutions.
There were almost 300 attendants! And stations from Go Go Craft, Bazaar Bizarre, Urban Fauna Studio and a Stitch and Bitch circle where you could create plushies, cards, felted beads and more. Very cool.
TechShop is pretty sweet too. The space is very large and they have tools, equipment and classes so you can make stuff, like woodworking, laser cutting or welding. They also have a station where you can create with Autodesk, and that was where Michael played.
I got to eat yummy sweets too (crafts + sweets = heaven) as there was also a bake sale to fundraise money for Kelly Malone, a DIY rockstar who is fighting cancer. They got almost $1,000! Yay! And check this out: the generous people at TechShop donated the entire cost of the venue rental to Kelly. Awesome!
Paloma was awesome too – my future crafter 🙂 She hung out with us until she crashed in the sling.
